Productive day
Nov. 7th, 2009 04:55 pmGot up early this morning and headed off to the dentist to take care of one of the cavities I have. Next appointment 2 weeks.
After dentist I headed over to the mall and got a much needed haircut. Wasn't my usual girl but at least this guy listened to me when I told him about length.
Went to JoAnns looking for Sabre's print flannel for making lounging pants for the sis for Xmas. No such luck. Could find bills, yankees, cubs, several college teams (no Syracuse) but no sabres. But I did get stuff to make the xmas ornament for this year. This one I've been playing with the idea for a while so maybe this year I will get to making it. Now have all supplies but the tacky glue. Also picked up a job application there.
Came home and since it was 65ºF out I pulled the lawn mower out and mowed the front yard, which desperately needed it, though the ground really was a bit too wet for it. Did not do the back yard. Too much swamp in the back.
Got the Halloween decorations down outside then thought "You know - it's 60+ degrees out, and I have the time, now would be the day to put the Xmas lights out." So I did. I had a neighbor start to tease me about how early it was then I pointed out that if I do it today I know the weather will be nice. If I wait until after Thanksgiving, no guarentee and I'd rather be up on a ladder in 60 degrees than 32 and trying to mess with lights with gloves on. He stopped and thought and said maybe he will put his up tomorrow. I have no intention of turning them ON yet but they are up. I think this year I will no honor mom's memory and put out the stupid deer. I don't really like the things and they are a pain to get out and set up. Maybe I will see if Sis wants them for her new house. Otherwise they may go up for sale.
Also went over to the church in the neighborhood for a late lunch as they are doing a Chivetta's chicken BBQ fundraiser. It also gave me a chance to really scope out the place as a potential site for maybe a future Masked ball. I really could not see the layout of the actual kitchen but the rest of the place seems like it might work. Only down side is that the dining hall is not handicap accessible (4 stairs down into it) but the rest of the site is. Have to think on it and see about talking to the church on costs and stuff before I really talk to the barony as it for a potential site.
Still plan on a bit of cleaning around the house then taking it easy. My throat is a little bit scratchy. But I don't know how much of that is just having been through dental work then outside yard work and stuff vs. maybe getting sick. So after I take a vacuum to the living room and run the dishwasher I think I will take it easy for the rest of the night, work on some crochet presents.
But I am very content with what I got done today so far.
