Decision

I have decided to officially resign from Layne Bryant. On Saturday I left a message for the manager to please call me. So far I have heard nothing from her.

The whole point of getting a seasonal job was to make money for Christmas. Even if they put me to work this week, money would not be to me before the holiday.

I've just got to write the resignation letter. I'm going to detail why I'm quitting - poor communication, being scheduled on a day I specifically said I was unavailable at my interview, lack of actually being scheduled to work.

Later in the week I will call TGIFridays again. They had told me to call mid-late December to see if there were any waitressing openings for the end of the month/beginning of the year. While it won't help with Christmas, it would still be supplemental income. And while I could hope that LB would give me hours, I've reached the level of frustration where it's not worth the energy. I'd rather eat raman and make other cuts before I continue there.

Comment and I'll:
a) Tell you why I friended you.
b) Associate you with something -- a fandom, song, color, photo, etc.
c) Tell you something I like about you.
d) Tell you a memory I have of you.
e) Ask you something I've wanted to know about you.
f) Tell you my favorite userpic from your list.
g) In return, you need to post this on your own journal.

I turned in my letter of resignation to LB on my way home. 5 minutes ago I got a call from the manager.

She apologized for not getting back to me sooner but said she had been out of the store and this was the first time she had been in since Friday. Um, OK.

They she apologized for the mix up on Thanksgiving weekend with the excuse that it was hard to keep track of 17 people's requests. Sorry, not buying it.

They she tried to blame corporate for not approving hours for people. I asked then why did they approve you to hire 6 new people for the holidays if they were not going to give you the hours to actually let them work? I turned down positions elsewhere, where I would have had working hours, because I had made a commitment to LB. I explained that the whole point of getting a seasonal position was to help pay for christmas, and with no work in 4 weeks it had been utterly pointless to have accepted. She had no answer.

She then told me that she had done the schedule for next week before she came in and got my resignation letter and had put me on for two shifts next week of actual work, not on-call and did I still want her to remove me from the schedule.

Yes.

This lame excuses and poor communication just totally turned me off from working at LB. Yes, I could use the money. But it's just not worth it for a part time seasonal job.

So, while I will still encourage people to buy there if their size and pocketbook allows, but I will not encourage folks to work there.
