no no no no no!

There is this meme charity challenge going around facebook. I do not know all the details except that if you get tagged you are supposed to either take a video of yourself getting covered with ice water AND send x amount of money to ALS research OR send y amount of money (y being exponentially larger) and then tag a bunch of people to do the same.

I just got tagged. But i will not do it. I am sorry but i will not be peer pressured or bullied into giving my money somewhere. Yes ALS is a horrible disease. I have a friend whose husband has it and is expected to die of it before he is 45. But that still wont make me give my money there.

I have very specific charities i donate to. Where is the ice bucket challenge for Parkinson's (the disease that killed my father and my college roomate's father)? Where is the ice bucket challenge for leukemia (the disease that has killed a couple members of my family). Where is the challenge for Asthma (something that could easily kill me)?

So while i appreciate the sentiment, my friends do not get to dictate where I send my money. Besides a shock of cold water like that will exacerbate my asthma. I have enough that does that without my help
