My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 stars if I could do a half star rating.
Unlike the other 2.5 stories so far, this one was not quite as exciting for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and look forward to the continuation of the story, but this one felt... eh.
The actions in the "real world" felt too wrong to be believable - the police releasing a minor into the custody of someone other than his parents or current guardian despite the fact that he was being investigated for homicide for example.
"In game" I enjoyed the continuation of Jason and his friends' stories as they continue to advance in the world. The way the games A.I. is manipulating the players, the story and other things was interesting. The antagonist's story arc. I am curious where it goes.
I still recommend the books to any who enjoy YA LitRPG.
