My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I will be up front. I did the audio version of this book and I think that had I done it any other way, I might not have finished it, or at least taken a LOT longer to finish this book. The performances by the two readers was AMAZING. That said, story wise I would give the book a 3. For Audio performance I would give it a 5 so I averaged to a 4.

40 year old mother of 3, Tessa, finds herself home alone as a Cat 4 hurricane heads towards her home in Coastal Florida. After discovering her daughter had taken her iPad with her to visit the grandparents, Tessa goes borrows her husband, Ethan's, who is in NYC on business. She discovers through messages on the tablet that he's seeing another woman.

Lindsey is a 26 year old Nursing student who met Ethan through a dating website and has convinced herself that she is the only one who really can make Ethan happy and she just needs to convince him of that.

Tessa, enraged at what she has learned, uses Ethan's account to message Lindsey and pretending to be her two-timing husband, invites Lindsey over to "ride out the storm" together. Lindsey comes running. Only to find that Ethan isn't there and Tessa has the upper hand and trapped her in a place she cannot get out of, and is demanding answers.

Like I said, had I actually read this book, I don't know if I would have found myself obsessed with it and wanting to constantly get back to it. I lay that emotional response clearly on the two women who read Tessa and Lindsey's chapters. The reader who gives voice to Tessa was amazing.

Having read the Author's note about this book, I understand the book more. This is a Mary Sue but not necessarily in a bad way. Having experienced a cheating husband, I believe Ms Cole was working through her own demons some, and this gave a good cathartic release. At least I hope it did.

Would I recommend this book. I think so, but I would strongly push for the audio version if there is a choice.
