July 22-August 10:

Prep and attending Pennsic - let's just assume that good things happened every day and move on.

August 11:

* got the van unpacked of all pennsic things except the burrito of sleep. Need help to move it.

* got grocery shopping done.

* stripped the color out of my hair in prep of radically altering said color.

* snuggle times with the critters to make up for my absence.

August 12:

* hair is now blue. Denim blue to be exact.

* got my nails did.

* Blaze Pizza and wine for dinner

* more critter snuggles

August 13:

* back to work - hugged by Boss #2 who was excited to see the Blue Hair.

* piles of work on desk alleviates "post Pennsic unemployment" anxiety I get every year.

* picked up Avengers Endgame and watched it with Ozy.

August 14:

* water goal met.

* made headway on work backlog.

* left over pizza for dinner

August 15

* water goal met

* work computer returned to pre-pennsic standards as upgrade did not actually help me be more productive - in fact was opposite.

* Hello Fresh pan seared Baramundi with roasted green beans for dinner

August 16:

* compiled my "letters from war" into one entry on blog

* having fun freaking out coworkers who have not previously seen blue hair. I like the color but still not convinced I like it on me. Will continue to give it time.

* gave myself permission to go to bed early

August 17:

* went to Hyatt's to restock paper supply to tackle scroll assignments.

* tremor was calm enough that I actually got a scroll started and finished!

* little boy next door likes my "superhero hair"

August 18:

* several walks with Grimmy

* Indian Fudge.

* more Pennsic laundry done.

* finished book #63

August 19:

* scale victory: lost 1.5 lbs. Given I gained 7 on vacation I'm very happy.

* got another scroll inked and calligraphed. Not happy with the calligraphy as I can definitely see the tremor in my lines.

* started a new book that I bought at a used book sale strictly because of the cover. 22 pages in, I think it has promise.

* Able to pin Lily Rose down (literally) to trim her toes. Those claws had gotten wicked. I managed to walk away with only a couple scratches and one pissed off little girl.

Shogun (Asian Saga, #1)Shogun by James Clavell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been a fan of this book ever since reading shortly after watching the TV miniseries. (Which I did on VHS as I was too young to see it when it aired in 1980 - so probably around 1984-ish). I instantly went out and borrowed the book from the library, much to the surprise of the librarian to see an 11 or 12 year old checking out an 800+ book on medieval Japan.

I fell in love with this book then and have reread it every other year or so since. I have actually had to replace my physical copy several times due to wear and tear.

This time around I decided I wanted to try the audio version and was not disappointed. Ralph Lister's narration was awonder performance and I never noticed that this book took over 53 hours to present. I fully intend to check out what other things he has done.

If you have not read this book, why haven't you? Seriously.
