Glad Game 2020: April 12-22
Apr. 23rd, 2020 03:27 pmAgain, it's a just lumping of things for the last week +. As one day blends into another it's kinda hard to separate them.
So here it goes.
* Went for a lovely walk on Easter Sunday. The weather was beautiful and I picked up a book at the Little Free Library I discovered. Will need to remember to take some books with me and put them in there.
* hit the water goal 5 times. Need to get better about that.
* made several messy art projects.
* made a LOT of face masks for myself and others.
* made a mundane tunic dress for myself out of fun flamingo fabric.
* used my stimulus check and paid off a loan and the lawn guys so I don't have to worry about either.
* Sadly I'm being furloughed - but I will get to keep my benefits during this time (though I still have to pay the employee share to the company) and be eligible for unemployment. That and I have a tentative return date (which is better than being let go completely). so there is some glad in the bad.
* My boss called the day after I got the furlough notification to make sure I was doing okay and say that they will do everything they can to get me and the others who were released back as soon as possible. I thought that was sweet.
* received flowers - okay they were from work wishing me a happy administrative professionals day. I can only assume they were ordered be for the furlough decision was made. I don't care. It's been a LONG time since I received flowers.
* Made Nana's mac and cheese and have been happily having it for dinner several times since.
* Surprised that I am actually OK with the idea of being furloughed. Honestly I have hated working from home. Only because I have too many distractions (mostly the cats) and a lot of what I do is hard to do from home (since 90% of my job is "other duties as assigned). I'm making plans to tackle some of the "when I have more than a day that I'm not thinking about or recovering from work" projects - organizing the garage if it ever stops snowing, cleaning the back room, going through my clothes and sorting out what no longer fits, what I don't wear and all that fun stuff and then decide if I am going to recycle them, donate them or toss them based on condition. Also maybe actually get a backlog scroll or two done. I also fully intend to explore the exercise channels on my roku and work on getting more fit (and to avoid the weight creep that has started due to the quarantine/isolation)
* I have a roof over my head, a freezer and pantry full of food, a bulk box of coffee pods, a
working car, TV, books and internet. I am doing OK.
* I'm being optimistic and believe everything will work out in the end. It won't be back to the old normal but that's okay. We need a new normal.
