"A BOOK ABOUT A VILLAIN OR ANTI-HERO"
Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 actually
Anna is your typical data crunching nerd who, like the majority of the world just needs a paycheck. She works exclusively through a temp agency who caters to a specific clientele - even bad guys need admin support.
While on a short term assignment, Anna becomes seriously injured as collateral damage when superhero "Super Collider" interferes with villainous scheme - leaving her lame and out of work again. Because of her prolonged rehab, Anna finds herself with nothing to do but contemplate how much collateral damage heroes leave in their wake. So she crunches the numbers, analyzes the reports and posts her findings on-line.
Because of her hobby, she is offered a job with the biggest, baddest super villain known and quickly rises in the ranks and finds herself in a position to help exact revenge against the superhero who left her crippled and more people dead in his trail of destruction than almost any bad guy around.
+++++
While all in all, fun, I was kinda hopping for ... more? More of what it is like to be just a cog in the corporation conglomerate. A deeper look at support staff and the way they are treated as things by the "higher ups".
I honestly don't know if I would recommend this book or now. Or if another in this world comes out if I would read it.
