A tale of two Kittens

The Mommy was curled up in her sleeping space looking at the thing that she called "book", every now and then making the insides of "book" move. The Mommy called this reading.

Auntie Alex was curled up next to the Mommy having "Alex, Mommy quiet time". Out in the hall Tzar Attila Ekaterinavich was practicing his Big-Cat Sprawl in the best spot in the house to do so - right at the top of the stairs. He had been watching Animal Planet lately and seen the Great Cats on the TV and wanted to show that he could be just like them. Afterall, he was the man of the house.

Next to Tzar, Talia Christine sat looking around. Looking up she spotted something on the linen closet door.

"Hey, Tzar?" she murbled to him. "What's that?" Her tail started swishing as she stared at the thing.

Tzar looked over and saw the thing that Talia saw. He sat up and his tail started swishing too. "That's the thing that scares Momma. That is a horrible evil spy-der"

"Oh no," said Talia. "We should do something. I don't want Mommy to be scared. But the Spy-der is so high. I can't jump that high to get it. And I can jump the highest of us all."

"We need to let Momma know it's there so she is not surprised." Tzar looks at the spy-der and at Momma in the bed and puffs up his tail and swishes it back and forth.

The two brave kittens start calling out as loud as they could.

"Mommy!"

"Mom-ma!"

"Mommy come kill the spy-der!"

"Mom-ma!"

After a minute The Mommy put down "book" and came out into the hall to see what was wrong. Talia stood up and started jumping as high as she could at the spy-der. The Mommy turned on the hall light and jumped back in fright.

"A spider. You found a spider and wanted to let me know. What wonderful kittens you are," she told them as she went to find "shoe" and have "shoe" kill the spy-der. She had "shoe" show the kittens how it had squished the spider. Talia made a face.

"Eeew" she said. But Tzar looked at "shoe" and ate the spy-der off of it.

The Mommy gave each of the mighty hunters a kiss and a snuggle for helping to protect her from the horrible evil spy-der.



And



The Mommy was looking for something in the kitchen when Talia came out of the pantry and ran up to the Mommy.

"Mommy I lost my Mousey," she cried. "Please come and help me find my Mousey. Tzar knows where it is."

The Mommy followed Talia back into the pantry and found Tzar laying on his side trying to reach under the set of shelves that hold the plastic dishes.

The Mommy got down and looked under the shelves and nodded.

"I see your Mousey Talia. There is something else under there too. Let me go get something to help get Mousey out."

As the Mommy went to find something Talia looked at Tzar. "Something else? Oh no. What could it be Big Brother? Please let my Mousey be ok."

Tzar didn't say anything as he was a big brave boy and didn't like to show that he was upset... at least not in front of his little sister.

A few moments later The Mommy came back with a long flat thing and put it under the shelves. She moved it back and forth and POP... out came the Mousey free, though a bit dusty. The Mommy moved the long flat thing again and POP, POP, POP... out came three more Mousies, thought lost.

"HEY!" exclaimed Tzar, "My Mousies!"

Another swipe of the big flat thing and POP POP POP POP - more Mousies.

In the end The Mommy had helped to rescue 10 little mousies.

All thanks to the quick thinking of the two brave kittens who knew that something was wrong and wanted to help.
