Once there was a young man who had been squired to a good and kind Knight. The Knight often let the squire have evenings free to go and visit friends.

One night while at a party, the young squire saw another knight, who had a reputation for being cruel and mean spirited, offering the people squired to him a drink of a special beverage. The young squire noted that the mean knight never drank from the bottle himself and that the other squires would have expressions of disgust after tasting the beverage given to them by their knight.

Later into the evening, the young squires Knight arrived at the party to partake of the festivities. The young squire went to join his Knight just as the mean-spirited knight approached. The young squire saw that mean knight offer his Knight a drink of the beverage that he had been offering his squires. Not wanting his Knight to suffer the indignity of poor quality alcohol, the young squire intervened.

“Sir, please take a sample of my beverage. I believe it is of a taste to your liking,” he said passing his mug to his Knight. The kind Knight nodded and took the young squire’s mug and only drank of it for the rest of the evening.

The mean knight frowned but did not offer his alcohol to the kind Knight anymore.

The squire and his Knight spent the rest of the evening enjoying the party.

Moral: Friends don’t let friends drink Squire Scotch
