Was the speaker joking? Ya see, I'm a huge fan of the "misplaced metaphor" e.g. "Make like a tree and get outta here." The malapropism just slays me for some reason, I can't explain it... it's a sickness :-)

Oh definately. He had to explain it to one of the "children" at work and tell them about the Sparrows of Capistrano and well.. salmon don't fly let alone flock to Capistrano so he has no women flocking to him.

I just found the line incredibly amusing.
