Full of fail

So this morning I decide I'm going to putter in the kitchen some while laundry is going.

I made up some peanut brittle - which I think I added too many peanuts too but oh well.

Then I decide to try rice krispie treats. Now I haven't made them since I was like 10. But I mean - rice krispie treats - how hard?

I get the marshmallows and the recipe is on the bag and it calls for one 13oz package of cereal. I opt for the generic so I get two 6 oz bags. Seems a lot but ok, that's what the recipe says.

I get the marshmallows all melted and ad the two bags of cereal. My instincts were correct - way too much cereal. Only needed one bag, if that. So I argue and curse and get as much of the cereal mixed into the marshmallow as possible, then comes the fun of spreading it into the pan. Again much swearing and cursing.

It's done and cooling. I have rice puffs EVERYWHERE.

I don't remember that much cursing or nearly the aggravation in making them. But then again, it might be because mom always did the majority of the work when making the things.

You know what - I'm going to stick to cookies. I can do cookies. I'll leave the "easy" stuff to the children.

I think there is a special voodoo required to make RKT's happen. Either that or a total openness to a different state of being. I leave that magic to the Huntress.

I'm with the boy on this one. I am CERTAIN we made these things at my house...but damn if I remember it. I am CERTAIN I remember making them at girlscouts in someone elses house. and I am CERTAIN I remember this being one of the reasons I hate marshmellows plain now.....yeah sitting there with the bag eating them and waiting to have to add them...

Are they green? On of the wierdnesses I picked up from my Caer Cinnuit youth...RKT are supposed to be green.

I didn't have any food coloring or I would have made them red and green
