The boys has their 3rd vet visit for shots and checkups

Grimm weighs in at a whopping 3lbs 1oz.
Darcy weighs in at a mighty 2lbs 8oz

Grimm cried this time when he got his shot, Darcy braved it through.

One more month of shots and they are good and "legal" and then can be fixed.

I swear you have the most peculiar vets, with the weirdest restrictions and timetables I have EVER heard of, bar none. If you trust them, good, but I just gotta tell ya, weird.

part of the reason for the long drawn out shots is their size.

In fact next month they get their rabies shot then we have to wait a week or so then they get their last distemper shot. Chihuahua's have a tendency to have really bad reactions if you give them too much at once. *shrug* It's actually something I've read as well as being told by the vet.

My vet also is big on letting the animals grow a bit before altering them. He doesn't like to do it in under 5 months of age.

No, I get that part--the waiting until 5 months, though our doc does the toys based on their personal anatomical maturity. Ping was done very early by my standards, but he explained toys mature fast, and everything I've read since confirms that.

No, it's the whole quasi-isolation schedule that's weird. Puppies have to have staggered shots, just like babies, because their body mass changes so much, not to "build up" immunity. I think the doctor's weird quarantine rules (no dogs in the house except litter mates, but it's okay to take them to Petsmart and go visit other dogs), is just...weird. I'd want to smack him (the vet), cause the rules make no sense to me--there's no logic, based on exposure, etc., since you're allowed to expose him to potentially toxic places where you have no control over the health status of the dogs, but aren't allowed to exercise discretion in your own environment. Like I said--I'd want to smack him.

Seriously, though, I'm not you, and what's important is that you trust the vet. If he wants you to dress Grimm in blue on Tuesdays, etc., as long as it does the dog no harm, it's more important that you trust him/her than that there be no quirkiness.

Veering off, what are you doing with him for 12th Night? Any chance I'll get to see him????????
