So last couple days I've heard an intermitent sound coming from near the electric chair in the Florida room. Couldn't figure out what it was so I just ignored it.

This morning I noticed both Tzar and Talia crouched low and half under the chair. Hmmmm.

5 minutes ago there was a great flurry of activity and I see Tzar chasing a mouse. I grabbed a bowl and tried to help and capture it.

Nope. Thing got away.

Upon a search I found the hole he came in by. Right by the door from under the deck. Said hole has been shoved full of brillo pads and a board laid across it for now.

When I go out tomorrow I will get rodent be-gone stuff and try to fill up the hole completely with something. I have joint compound so that may be the fix for now.

But until I do that, I don't think the Florida room is going to be the Puppy room. Cats will have full access. But it is not going to be a place for little puppies for a while.

not sure if it would deter rodent BUT that spray sealer, insulator, expanding stuff would certainly work to fill the gap and hole

I know it can't be what it sounds like, but I have to ask...electric chair?

Lol. I have mixed feelings about mice in my house. I know the little guys just want shelter and food, but on the other hand, it's a rodent and it's IN MY HOUSE. My house, not theirs. So I buy live traps and I take them to the woods and I set them free.

But then during the really cold months, they come in and they go for my bird's cage because sometimes he has seeds in his treat cup. Then I get mad and I want the little bucktoothed fiends dead.

No not THAT kind of electric chair. Back when my father was alive, he was wheelchair bound, for his last year-ish. I still have the chair, though the battery is dead, because I am not sure what to do with it. So it sits next to my computer table by the back door and is basically a "place to put stuff".

I wouldn't mind if the mice would be just in the basement or something but they are not. they chewed a hole in my floor and came in. Yes, they gave my cats exercise but that's not enough of a reason to let them back in. Especially since they came into the room that has more or less become the puppy's room. And he hasn't had his full round of shots yet.

But I took the advice above and got the spray insulation foam and filled up the hole. hopefully that's the end of the little bucktoothed fiends in my house.

I'll bet Goodwill would take it and you could get a tax deduction for it. Or you might could try calling up local churches and see if they have a use for it.( I know our church does missionary work in Honduras, including maintaining a hospital clinic in one of the villages, and so we always have stuff like that sitting around in our fellowship hall until we can ship it out. We're probably the only church in the area where you would hear the phrase "Hi, enjoying dinner on the grounds? That fried chicken is good, isn't it? Don't bump the operating table, it's keeping the dentist chair and three boxes of clothing from going over." ) They might could refurbish it or something for an elderly member that's on a limited budget.

Ooh, mice potentially harming my puppy? They'd be dead. You don't harm my puppies. How old is he?

Never underestimate a rodent. They're clever little things.

Yeah, I just need to get off my butt and look into places for the chair. I have an electric hospital bed too but that at least gets use as a guest bed from time to time.

The puppy will be 4 months old on the 11th. here are pictures of him (along with the cats): http://upload.zooomr.com/photos/ekat/

*turns into a gibbering pile of mush at the sight of a puppy*

He's so cute in his little red santa-ish outfit! And your cats are gorgeous. I so want to pop a benadryl and then hug that big floofy one.
