Mighty Puppy

Because I can't go to the zoo today I decided to take a walk. I took Grimm with me so it wasn't a very long walk. We walked the length of my block twice.

For his first time really on a leash he did wonderfully. I wouldn't really let him sniff much but otherwise he was good. He didn't need much encouragement to stay by me and he walked the Chihuahua strutt all the way.

Well, up until the house on the corner let their bull mastiff out into the backyard. Grimm was fine up until said mastiff saw the puppy and barked. At which point, Grimm let out one low growl and bark and then tried to run his little feet right off away from the big dog.

You know, I'll accept running away from big dog rather than try to stand his ground/attack.

Maybe we will go out into the backyard later if it's not too swampy.

Grimm is very wise. I always wonder what big/little dogs think about the size difference. Do the big dogs regard much smaller dogs any differently than similar sized dogs? Do teeny dogs fear, say, great danes as scary giants? Do little dogs even recognize great danes as being like them?
