This was a pretty busy weekend and the successes out-numbered the failures by a great deal.
The Successes:
1. Friday night I got the lasagna prepped before anyone arrived.
2. When the Caer arrived, Grimm was very good. He did the expected “Bark Bark” which in puppy generally means “This is my territory, just watch out” but within minutes he had realized that Ping is height-wise, not much bigger than him and he had a playmate. He didn’t really register Penelope unless she moved and then it was just the barking that again warned that the new dog was in his territory.
3. The Kids arrived before midnight Friday.
4. Miss Alex sat in her chair in the kitchen and was “social” while the table was full of people.
5. I am finally managing to convince myself that I do not need to be the last one to bed just because there are people in my house, especially if those people are family. I can trust them all to turn off lights before they turn in.
6. I got up with enough time to make sure BoomBoom got breakfast before she had to leave to get Dicea to work.
7. Actually remembered to troll into the event.
8. Spent quality time field squiring for my Knight and helping him through the single elim tourney.
9. Got the scroll I did turned in as the Baron was signing scrolls
10. Dinner went off with a hitch and folks seemed to like healthy food that EVERYONE could eat. (it’s the fact that everyone could eat it was the key for me).
11. Breakfast Sunday was wonderful. How could it not be with Bosscakes as the main part?
12. PACK TIME
13. I did not actually violate Rule #1.
The failures:
1. Lots of barking when we all got back to the Doma Saturday. Excitement, nerves and fears all played in. It was all understandable though.
2. Grimm has realized that the bed isn’t as high as he thought and therefore jumps out of it now. This resulted in several times of being woken up by whining because he had gotten down and couldn’t get back up.
3. Didn’t sleep really Friday or Saturday night. Part of this is due to failure #2.
4. Allergic reaction to Penelope. I normally have a reaction, but this weekend is was rather severe.
5. Came to close to violating rule #1. Had to leave site early due to allergic reactions to the site itself. This being the third year in a row that I have had reactions to this site leading to bad asthma, I’m beginning to think that I need to consider not attending Ice Dragon anymore until such time as it is at a different site.
6. I would have liked to have been able to tell people how they could have helped me get dinner ready and on the table. Unfortunately the lack of oxygen to the brain made often vocalizing difficult and was just easier to do myself.
7. My lungs. My lungs failed me big time. Hard crunchy failures. I didn’t let on really how bad it really was. I did come too close to stopping the whole breathing thing several times. If I had health insurance, I might have actually considered allowing someone to take me to the hospital. But I suffered through using my inhaler more than I should have and taking it easy and relying on Vicks vapo-rub. Yes, you all who where there this weekend can beat me later. I’m still tight chested and sore and achey but I have only had to hit my inhaler twice today outside of my normal first thing in the morning.
I caught up with sleep yesterday after everyone left and I got back from taking the Boo and Boogie shopping.
I’m at work today. Taking it slow but surviving. Life moves on and so do I.
Glad to see those I did this weekend, sorry I missed those who I did. Sorry I missed seeing the Duchess get her Augmentation of Arms. But I’m sure she would understand that I thought that the whole breathing thing was just a bit more important.
Moo all.

Date: 2008-03-17 07:23 pm (UTC)Did the stuff get to you?? I forgot to bring them to 12th night... and when I was getting Dsiney princess stuff for Kate.. I saw them.. and we had to get them.. I hope they are ok. I still forgot to send your scarf (from last 12th night), but I'll get it to you eventually..
I wasn't thinking too well Saturday.. so I didn't do most of the stuff that I had wanted to do.. So, maybe next event.. I'll actually be smart enough to say hi when I first see people intend of thinking I'll have time to do it later..
Apparently, I still haven't learned the lesson that I need to do things when I first think of them.

Date: 2008-03-17 07:36 pm (UTC)Given that I've been fighting teeth and toes to keep this flu from getting into my lungs, I'm very glad I didn't come. But I missed folks.
Your company isn't providing health insurance! That's insane!
*hugs*

Feel better.

Date: 2008-03-18 01:03 am (UTC)I had just started to recover, and then today I had to go and pack up my office, which required standing and packing in precisely the quadrant of the room where the mold is (which is why I have to pack--long story). I still feel like I'm breathing through a straw and my heart rate is up about 15%.
I may stay home with the little black one instead of going to Coronation. I'm not willing to put my twin sister of different mothers through this again.

Date: 2008-03-18 11:24 am (UTC)How does Penelope react to baths/showers? I have puppy shampoo. Perhaps if we give her a bath after you arrive it would help.
I would hate to not be able to have you all together in one place again.
I also think a big part of my reaction to her was the big allergy and asthma attacks I had had earlier in the week.
WE will find something. Good luck with your office move.

Date: 2008-03-18 11:58 am (UTC)We'll figure something out.
Ah,if only I was moving. They're tearing out the moldy carpet and replacing it with new, which means for the last half of the semester I'm trading mold and mildew for lovely chemicals. Sometimes I hate my life.
