this weekend

I had to to a very hard thing tonight. I had to call people I care about, who I had been looking forward to seeing this weekend and tell them I couldn't come out.

I really wanted to go. It's my birthday weekend and I always like spending that weekend with my friends and the family I've made for myself.

But I looked at my bank account. And the $20 in my wallet is all I have until I get paid NEXT week.

It really hurts that I can't see them. But it's my own fault. I made the mistake of not paying attention to my spending and as a result I'm paying the price.

I can't even afford to go see Madagascar this weekend and I always try to see whatever animated movie is in the theaters on or around my birthday.

I'm looking at the huge pile of bills going... "How am I going to make it through this one?"

At least the fridge and pantry are stocked, the cats will have to deal with low rate food for a week. I have enough for them, but what I have usually makes Talia have icky tummies. But unfortunately I don't have a choice at this point.

And I have to make cookies this weekend as work is having a food fest again on my birthday (monday). Luckily I have several cake mixes in the pantry and I can just make some cookies from them.

And the cats just stole several pieces of popcorn out of my bowl.

I give up

Don't begrudge the popcorn

Remember, dear one, that that is their way of saying "What's yours is mine and what's mine is yours"--that doesn't just go for the popcorn, but also for their joy in laying in a warm sunbeam coming through the window.

Hard as it might be (and we will miss you), perhaps this is a weekend for the wolf-girl to be a cat; lay in the sunshine coming through the window, play with the dust bunnies, nibble on what you can catch, and nap like a professional.
