**Vacuum is officially dead. after repeated attempts the thing no longer works. Damn it. It's just over 6 months old. So I now, on top of other things, need to try to save up money to get a new one. A dust buster will only go so far when you have a mostly carpeted 2000 sq ft house and 4 pets.

Where'd you buy it? Only 6 months old should still be under manufacturer's warranty. Contact the store, then the manufacturer.

the store was going out of business. so can't take it back to the store. And at this point I have no clue where I put the proof of purchase. I've been really bad about that lately and need to get back into the practice of saving receipts with the paperworks.

Live and learn. At least it wasn't a $700 dyson that died. I got this one on going out of business for around $50 so I can't complain too much.

The manufacturer will honor your word or it may be a simple repair. Go to the website and locate stores. My Hoover just went through a similar problem, though it is out of warranty. But I found a great vacuum cleaner store in the process, right near my house.
