snow

There was snow on the ground and on the car this morning. Not enough to fully cover the grass but snow none the same.

Makes me glad that I should be able to start parking in the garage starting tonight. Still need to price some snow plow places, not that I can really afford it, and see about getting the snow blower in to see if it can be resurrected.

I also need to buy boots. My old snow boots finally died last year. I can't really complain about it as they gave me 6 good years. But now comes the difficult task of finding new ones. While I love boots, actual winter boots are different. My issue is that from what I've seen so far, nothing out right now is all that practical for snow. It's all suede and some fake fur but nothing that would stand up to having to be worn for hours while shoveling. Nothing that would actually keep my feet dry and warm for more than 5 minutes, not matter the amount of Camp Dry sprayed on them.

But I shall go out sometime this week and do some more looking. I will find something. Eventually.

for practicality, if you're just looking for something for knocking about in during outside chores, buy mens' boots. fashion seems to think women don't shovel their own driveways, so buy boots for the gender they think does all the work :)

Seconded. Engineer boots and fake police boots all come in small sizes, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them. I have fairly small feet and I can almost always find decent inexpensive winter boots.

Fake Uggs from Target, heavily sprayed with scotchguard (or similar) stayed dry and warm, even in the ankle high water at Pennsic (you know, the one where I watched the water rising up towards the bedding in our pavillion), let alone last winter here. I'd suggest looking for something of the same.
