A flag flies outside my door today. It stands as a symbol. A symbol of a country: A country that I am not ashamed to say I am a citizen of. A symbol of struggle: struggles of men and women throughout the centuries to make their lives and the lives of their descendants better. A symbol of freedom: freedom to live, work, worship, love as I choose.
This flag flies outside of my door today because of men and women who stepped forward to stand in defense of all that that flag is a symbol of. And it is these men and women that I think about and thank.
Michael W. Telesco - My grandfather who served in WWII and Korea
Charles W. Telesco - My father who served during Vietnam
Carrie M. DeWeese - My Boo who served during Desert Storm
Theodore Bushover - My couple great grandfather who served during WWI
Gustave Bistoff - Couple great grandfather who served in the Civil War)
Charles MacEachern - my cousin who enlisted during peace time
Peter MacEachern - my cousin who enlisted during peace time
Tom (My mother's cousin that I'm not sure which side of the maternal family he's on but was awarded a bronze star, twice awarded the purple heart and a few other medals in Vietnam)
Dicea’s Boys (Dirk, Bruce, Vells, and the others)
The following I'm not entirely sure what time frames they served and do not want to do them injustice by guessing
Dennis Sparks
Wes Dotts
EJ Dotts
Kevin Reynolds
Paul Reynolds
Michael Gaasch
Anthony Craft
Richard DeWeese
Michael Carroll
There are many many many more, whom I know by an alternate name or by their face, or who have served anonymously throughout the centuries. And to those above and those whom I do not know…
Thank you.
