So tomorrow morning I get up, pack the pup go check on something for the girls then hit the road to head down to Bethesda to spend the holiday with the sister.

So here comes my dilema.

Do I:

1. go more or less the direct/straight shot (NYS I-90 to NYSI-390 to US 15 to I-270)

2. the way mapquest takes me, (US 219 to lots of PA routes to I 270)

3. take the Yahoo maps way (US I-90 to I-70 to I-70 to I-270)

Pros and cons of each:

1. Pro: I know the route mostly. And all highway Con: some tolls, longest time (8+ hours) wise and has tolls Side thought: drive past Reptiland

2. Pro: shortest time (little over 7 hours) Con: lots of "Where the hell am I" Pennsylvania, never driven it (not sure how much is highway) good chance of getting lost

3. Pro: All hightway Con: PA Turnpike, lots of tols never driven this route side note: time almost the same as option one

Remember how PA does/not take care of it's roads. The smaller the road the more problems you could get into. I vote choice one or three.

I vote 1. Especially if you can time it to dodge rush hour issues.

Drive the route you know best. Your first route takes you right by me I working in Harrisburg on the other side of the river from route 15.

I would avoid the mapquest one. I know many of the routes that I have a feeling that they are sending you down, and unless you know them, you don't want to be there. And I would expect that given the road types it will take just as long as the other two routes. I can check with Dad tonight if you like and give you a call.

Love - M

All depends on weather. You're a snow belt child, so you know the gig with roads.

1) I take the exit at Batavia and cut the corner through Mt. Morris, which saves 20 minutes and is scenic. It's well maintained during foul weather. Best route, IMO. You can possibly cut some additional time off it by taking 83 into Baltimore and then I-95 to The Beltway. Much depends on rush hours, and I suspect 4pm is gonna suck no matter where you are in Thanksgiving Wednesday. Just make sure you are in the left lane when you get to Frederick.

2) Not on a bet. Maybe in the summer.

3) I am told it is somehow faster. I prefer the US 15 corridor anyway.

1. it's lovely, it takes forever, it's populated, and it works.

Note: Do Not Speed in Virginia.

Please get lots of rest and good sleep and pack your soda and snacks and make as many stops as you want. Take your time, arrive safe. We miss you terribly.

Moo, and Thank you, love.

My suggestion would be to take the route you know. Save the tolls and any uncertainty. As for #2, like Kea said: Not on a bet. The time savings is what, 30, 40 mins? Is it worth taking an accidental wrong turn or being unsure in *any* way if the weather is difficult? And, tomorrow, weather is supposed to be unpleasant, especially across central PA. Not "Buffalo" bad, you should be able to see the difference between roads and fields.. *grin* ..but not worth it.

Be safe. Be comfortable. Take your time and arrive healthy.

Hugs.

God, I haven't looked at a Mapquest map in ages. Got too pissed off after too many really shitty directions. I favor Google maps these days.

Hahaha! I am such an idiot.

:)

Here I'm thinking "Spend the holiday with her sister? What? Christmas is still a month away. Who spends a month with their sibling for Christmas!?"

And then the lightbulb finally warmed up.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
