I learned today that the new generic for my inhalor (used to be Albuterol, is now a version of Proventil) which they have to give now because the old one had CFCs is a Teir 2 drug.

This means instead of the $10 I was used to paying I'm now paying $50. (that's the insurance co-pay). Next time I need a refill I'm going to have to see if I can beg the doctor for samples because I just can't afford that all the time. Which luckily isn't that often because it is my rescue inhalor.

Still not happy.

I thought "generics" were supposed to be "cheaper".

Oh, well. It sucks.

talk to them about xopanex[sp?] [pronounced soap-an-ex]. it's what we use on the ambulance instead of albuterol, under certain conditions.

Score one for the "grennie" crowd. Reduce the effectiveness of the inhaler, increase the cost for those who use it having targeted something that *at best* only released trace amounts of CFCs (even allowing for the large number of them in use). But see, the greens don't care if *you* die, so long as the environment is okay.

(Yes, I'm being an ass, and there's a difference between being honestly concerned for the environment and being in the camp who thinks humans should disappear, but I'm in a lousy mood today....)

Oh I totally agree. I was like, is there really that many in a inhalor that asthmatics are sending into the air that the hole in the ozone is going to be so enlarged that we have to go to a more expensive drug that is even more nasty tasting?

totally stupid.

agreed, there is way too little balance in things, extremes (in either direction) tend to be really bad
