Water issues

Some folks have advised me to find another plumber to replace the water heater sooner than Monday. That is should not take a week to replace one.
While it feels like I'm justifying, let me give you the reasons I am not getting someone else to do it.
1. Town of Amherst requires you use a plumber registered and "approved" by them. I will tell you right now, the list is not extensive nor does it have inexpensive labor cost plumbers on the list.
2. The person who is doing the work, who happens to by in my SCA barony, IS approved by the town.
3. To save me HUGE labor fees he's doing the work during his off hours. And unfortunately between our two schedules, the earliest he can do the work and replace it is Monday.
While it sucks, I will cope with having to be careful about the hot water situation for a week if it saves me several hundreds of dollars in labor fees.

Over the years I've acquired a number of people who do various plumbing, electrical, gas, small engine repair, etc., with whom I've built up a good relationship. I don't mind waiting a few days here and there to fit things into our schedules because I want the work done by someone I can trust to do it right. I also pass their names along to my friends when appropriate -- after all I want them to stay in business.

I can heat water up on the stove to do dishes.
After all, if my forefathers could cope without water heater tanks for their whole lives, I can cope for a week.
