After dinner with the girls, Boo and I went to a movie.

And I loved it. It was fun, enjoyable, and a bit silly. We went and saw "Chicken Little". It was a rather simple and very non-complex plot. I mean we all know about the little chicken who gets hit on the head by an acorn and sends panic into the world by saying the sky is falling. This was a nice little play on that tale.

But there was the standard Disney lesson. Every Disney movie has a moral/lesson. This one was that just because you're little you're not wrong or inferior or anything.

The social outcasts are often the ones who turn out to be the ones that society ends up needed and falling to for support through the tough times. They are the ones who have had to struggle by themselves to survive the trials and tribulations of childhood, bullies, out-of-style clothes, ferocious chewing gum attacks, and bits of interplanetary space debris falling on their heads. But they move on to bigger and better things

You know... that goofy looking ugly duckling you sat next to in homeroom ... that one with the coke bottle glasses and severe overbite... he or she might be the one who, because they were excluded from the in-crowd and was forced to take refuge in the library... just might be the one that grows up to find the cure for AIDs. That fat kid that everyone ignored except when he was a target for dodgeball in gym glass... bet you are cheering him on as he demolishes the Rams defensive line on Sunday. The "wierd kid" who always danced to class to his own internal music and had his own unique fashion sense is probably in Milan right now shooting his next music video and signed a contract for his own clothing line that you will pay uber money to have in your closet.

And that little kid that everyone teased because he was paranoid about being attacked and convinced everyone was out to get him. Guess who's sitting right now in NORAD keeping the world safe for us to sleep at night.

Ok, so maybe I read way too much into a fun little movie with no real climax and a weak story arc.

I liked the movie, thought it was fun and will probably buy it on DVD because it made me smile. Plus it helps to know that sometimes... the sky really is falling. But that's ok because there will be a Chicken Little somewhere to save the day.

Gosh, hon. I wish I'd read your post before I'd written mine. I think we got the same thing out of the movie, but you phrased it a whole heck of a lot nicer.

Hermmmm.

Thanks.
