This morning the boys were talking about the new V series on ABC. I admit that I had wanted to watch it but missed it due to attending the wake.

So anyway, the guys were like "Apparently it was a big thing back in the 80's. I'd never heard of it." So I spent roughly 15 minutes explaining that yes, back then it was THE mini series that we stayed home to watch if we were not lucky enough to yet own a VCR (and then explaining to them that I was 11 or 12 when we got our first top loading, took up the entire top of the tv VCR). and yes by today's standards the special effects are kinda cheesy, but back then that was top notch stuff for regular TV.

And when I said that they have to remember that during the time that V aired we were all also watching Buck Rogers and the original Battlestar Gallactica - to which one said "There was a BSG before the one that aired recently? And Who's Buck Rogers?"

I just sighed.

Where's my walker and geritol?

Actual response from one of my enlisted troops during a discussion about music: "You mean Paul McCartney was in a band before 'Wings'?"

Yes, she meant it as an honest question.
