BUT... no root canal!

I am glad I put my foot down and asked if there was anyone in the dental practice that could do it as they kept trying to refer me out. Turned out that the dentist I had started seeing in the practice back when I was like 11 did them. So I rearranged my work schedule and went in to see him to have it done today.

He looked at the x-ray, looked at the tooth and told me that he didn't think the root canal was necessary.

So he numbed me up, and started work. Once he got the decay removed he confirmed I did not need one.

I have what he has called one of the most ungraceful, ugliest fillings ever, but the tooth is still alive.

Dr. G did say that I will eventually need a crown but not yet. He doesn't want to basically kill the tooth until there is no other option.

This is great. Less money I have to shell out at the moment.

Still a couple cavities to deal with but I'll cope as I didn't need a root canal and the crown and that related stuff has been pushed off for a bit longer.

yippee for no root canal!! My only exp with that was awful and I won't be going back. Glad you have a good dentist and that you were clear in what you wanted!

I have two crowns--one tooth had a root canal, the other didn't. Crown doesn't have to = root canal. Just sayin.'

yay! glad you have a good dentist. i have several teeth that have had their lives extended that way. it does tend to ensure that when the root canal comes, a crown does too :/ but i got lucky on the last one and did the root canal in one 'year' & the crown in the start of the next. kind of toasts the coverage for the year. but better than paying way more out of pocket than needed.
