2009 a look back

Too many funeral home visits this year. None for direct family but too many of family of friends and the loss of a good woman at the hands of an insane man. That loss touches my life every day I walk into work.
Looking back at my "to-do list" for 2009:
Employment - remain employed and maybe find something more rewarding. But staying employed is the key for me. - still employed. Didn't really look for other.
Health/Weight I’ll aim this year for just 10 lbs. If I break out my walk away the pounds dvd’s that should help right there. Maybe even set up the DDR for my PS2 Again, not so much. I maintained again.
Great Recipe Experiment 2009 I’m going to be more realistic and try for just 12 this year. That’s one a month. I can do that. Especially since my sister gave me two great new cookbooks for Christmas. - I accomplished 14. A couple have made it into the regular rotation.
Garage Same as before clean and sort it and be able to park in it easily. hehehehehe yeah, no.
House
1. Wallpaper border in guest bathroom.
2. Front Hall stripped of Wallpaper and painted.
3. Tear our dead lilac tree out front and replace
4. Victory Garden
Only one that got done was the tree, which the replacement died. Though I did get the shower curtain rod up in the guest bath.
Grimm Early into the year I would like to get him certified as a Therapy Dog and start doing hospital/group home visits. Well we got certified in August but we still go certified and have been doing weekly visits since.
Social I’d like to try to get myself into being more social and not just hermit away alone or just with the Girls. I’m hoping the Grimm item on the list will help with that. Sorta. I've been doing the weekly TDI visits. And Grimm and I have made it to a good handful of the Chihuahua meet up play dates. I did average roughly one SCA event a month too.
2010 to dos
Employment - I'm not particularly happy or content where I am. There is absolutely no growth room. So I would like to find something else. Preferably closer to home.
Health/Weight- I would like to get back into doing some kind of exercise at least twice a week. My current plan is my Walk away the pounds DVDs and continue my 1-2 mile walks with Grimm come warm weather
Great Recipe Experiment 2010- I think I will keep with the goal of 12 new recipes a year. It's realistic.
Garage- Same as before clean and sort it and be able to park in it easily.
House- on top of the list below, I hope to continue working FLYlady into my routine. Now that the house is clean, I hope to get back into doing the daily challenges.
1. Wallpaper border in guest bathroom.
2. Front Hall stripped of Wallpaper and painted.
3. Tear our dead chery tree out front and replace
4. Victory Garden
5. Fix/repair shed and fence
Arts and Crafts - I have found a joy in crochet. I want to finish the Yips I'm making for 12th night presents. I plan at least two afghans this year. One is with my sister. We picked out the pattern over Christmas. Now we just have to pick the yarn. The other one I started, I just need to sit and work on it. I would also like to break mine and Dicea's habit of getting a scroll assignment months before it's due but waiting until the week before to work on it. That is going to have to be a joint effort.
Frame of mind - I would like to challenge myself to find one good thing that happened everyday. Even if it's something as silly as "reveled in wearing fuzzy socks". I spent too much of 2009 dwelling on the bad. I need to change the thinking to finding the good. Pollyanna here I come.

Date: 2010-01-01 06:06 pm (UTC)I like your challenge and may adopt it as my own. If nothing else, it will give my facebook status something other than the latest book I'm reading or want to read.
Happy New Year!

Date: 2010-01-01 10:06 pm (UTC)I am known for always looking for the positive. I think I coined a word for that some years ago, at least I like to think I did.
When I try and look for the good, I say that I Pollyannalyze........ feel free to adopt the term! :-)
