So I'm not feeling too hot. I'm fighting tooth and nail not to get the crud that swept through the office last week. I swear if you had stepped into the REO department of Steven J. Baum, PC, you would have sworn you had walked into a Tuburculosis wing. So Theraflu, Zycam and ginger ale have been my friend all weekend.

But today I had to be a responsible grown up. I had only put off getting the van inspected for a bit... OK it was due the end of September. Anyway, with the new year comes a new color inspection sticker so it is more obvious that I'm out of date.

So I get my butt up and head to Valvoline at 11:30 this morning. I get there for an oil change and inspection and am told it will be a good 3+hours before they can get to the inspection and I would have to wait there in my car until my turn.

FORGET THAT!!!!!

So I figure if I have to wait I'll head to Sears so that I at least have the mall to browse while waiting. I get there and am told the inspection guy doesn't come in until 2. It's now noon. Fine, I'll go home, find some lunch and come back.

IM the Boo and see if she and/or Boogie want to come hang out. Boo comes out and meets me at Sears at 1:55. I get in the que. Told 2-2.5 hours and it will be ready.

Well, it has been a while since we did the hang in line at the DMV (even if she went last time without me), so off we go. Luckily there is a Ruby Tuesday's in the mall and we can sit amnd she can have a beer or two, we can get gnashy stuff and hang out.

About 4ish we head back out to brave the mall. Stop and get obscene pressies for the Boogie. *Pel, the straws were all Kitt's idea* Go to Radio Shack for something that the two need for their computers and then back to Sears.

The nice man who's name was Antwyninas (isn't that a great name?) gave me the most sorrowful look when he came back to tell me that while the oil change was done, they still needed to do the inspection. The cute mechanic told me though, I can make it next and it will be about twenty minutes.

Fine, twenty minutes. Boo had to go, so off I wandered to find food, only to discover that the Micky D's is no longer in the mall. *sigh* off to brave the food court to get a hot dog then back to Sears.

Finally at 6:15 the car was done, inspected, oiled and good to go.

So thus starts 2006 for me. With a sympathetic friend, a head cold, and a legal car.

There are worse ways to start a year.
