Survived my co-worker's wedding.

It was the first time in a very long time that I've gone to a catholic mass. I really liked the way the decon delivered the sermon. Though I kept finding myself watching the Monsignor for fear that any moment he was going to fall over. He was like 300 years old. And the true sign that I have not been to a catholic mass in a while was my thought "Alter Girls? When did they start allowing that?"

I was not impressed however by the lack of catholics in the actual church for the ceremony. I think that including the officiates and the organist there were what sounded like 10 and there were 100 people there. Quite a few would kneel for the prayers but there were hardly making responces or singing with the hymns.

It was disappointing.

The bride certainly succeeded in her want to be a winter princess. Yeah. I think it was a bit overkill but she was obviously happy so that's all that mattered. And I thought the smug "yeah she's mine" smile on the grooms face was kinda cute.

The reception was nice. The Rich Foods Atrium is very beautiful. The munchy stations before the meal were good and the key thing... OPEN BAR. And the meal... YUM. Steak very rare (but tender enough that it was ok. Normally I do not like my steak that rare but it was very yummy) and lobster tail so sweet it didn't need any of the better.

Dessert was little pastries and chocolate strawberries. I scored the strawberries for myself. yummy.

I got to see a former co-worker that I really liked. She was a riot and kept the table very entertained.

Though watching the whole pre-wedding stuff and even the wedding and reception stuff I wonder just ... would I ever put myself through it? The older I get the more I think that if I were to ever find "Mr. Right", I'd want something very simple and as little DRAHHH-MAAAH as possible. Simple.

Do you?

Do you?

Married.

Then party. Grill out in the back yard? Pizza and wings? If the family were to insist on a full out reception, I'd so hire a SCA cook for the dinner feast. I'm sorry, $85 a plate is rediculous. (and an additional $4,000 just for a soup course?!?!? I was told it was good soup but to me to have soup and make your family not have xmas is just damn selfish- yes that actually happened with this wedding) I don't care how good the food is. Not when I know SCAdian cooks who can pull in AMAZING multi-course feasts for $15/person.

*shrugs* But I have no worries of having to face any of that headache any time in the near future.

For now, it's just me and the kitty cats and my friends. Do I really need anything else?

*bites lip* When they realized that they'd be safe from the priests?
