We started a new weight loss challenge at work. That's good. despite the help from the FB ones, having people I see face to face helps me with my motivation. Not to mention the "I don't want to be the one to bring the team down" mentality.

One of my many downfalls of late has been the Tim Hortons I can drive by on my way to work. I'm a sucker for either a Mocha Iced Capp or a Mocha Latte.

So I made myself a bargain. If, instead of spending $5 a day on the tasty beverage of choice, I took the money I would have spent to the local grocery store, I could buy myself a bunch or two of cut flowers for my desk at work. I like the flowers, it's not like anyone ever sends me them anyway, they brighten up my now windowless cube, and I am not putting calories in that I could use for better/healthier things.

It's now week two of doing it and I'm down almost 4 lbs.

I think I will continue this trend/tradition and maybe when I hit milestone loss numbers I will upgrade the bouquet from "field bouquet" to maybe roses or lilies or something like that. The prize and treat that is not food.

It's a hope and a plan anyway.

That's an awesome treat/reward! My cafeteria lunches at work have been getting pretty pricey since I started adding salads (sold by weight) to the entrée, so I've been thinking about dropping the entree to save money *AND* points. (Winston will be disappointed, but I'm sure we'll manage ;-) Flowers sound like an excellent alternative and high-five to replace the better lunch choices with.

Now I just have to get more consistent about that 15 minutes a day on the bike...

I've priced having flowers delivered, and it's pretty close to prohibitive.

Oh I am well aware of how much it costs to send flowers. I'm the one at work who has to order flowers and fruit baskets anytime there is a death or birth in an employee's family.

But, to stop and get a bunch of flowers at the grocery store is within the realm of affordable and actually to get two of the field bouquets is cheaper than getting 5 mocha lattes a week.

Makes perfect sense.

Just justifying to myself why I don't send flowers more often. :(
