Time to once again take stock of what happened last year and what I would like to do next year. As always, I do not call these resolutions... instead they are to-do lists.

2017 to-do list

1. Health - one of my FB friends is challenging herself to walk 100 times for at least 30 minutes a time throughout the year. That comes to average about twice a week. I can do that. Even if it's going to the gym at work and doing 30 minutes after work twice a week. I also want to get the weight back down. This started out strong but tapered off after getting sick and never picking it back up.

2. Employment - goal is now 5 years. achieved. And another kick-ass review. (I think part of this is helped by the fact that my review is immediately after budget prep and I put in a lot of extra hours helping with it)

3. Arts and Crafts - I am going to continue with the gift exchanges. Perhaps not wait until almost the due date to get the gifts done I kept up with them. But didn't do so well about finishing before the due date. I often asked for the 2 week extension.

4. Scribal - I want to find the joy again. I've lost it recently. I have a bunch of backlogs to work on. Maybe I won't take fresh assignments for a while and work to get the backlogs done. I'm still trying to find the joy. I also got next to no assignments from Kingdom this year - hard to feel the joy when it feels like you're not particularly wanted. But I got a couple big scrolls done and through them actually won Kingdom A&S Champions.

5. Reading Challenge - I enjoyed doing the 2016 one so I have signed up for the 2017 one. 40 to 52 categories to read (depending on if I go for the advanced list on top of the regular one). Still hope to do unique books for each entry. achieved! Finished all the categories with no duplicates. I even read several books not applicable to the challenge. Goal was 52 and according to Goodreads I read 62.

6. House:
1. Front Hall
2. Oven
3. Fence
4. Basement
5. general organization/decluttering

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The fence got fixed but that's because it fell down and the town cited my neighbor. He fixed it.

7. A Question a Day - I got a book that is to encourage you to write. It has a unique topic for each day of the year. Going to hope to try to write a little entry each day. like the walking - started out ok and fizzled.

8. Family - do what I can to support my sister in her search to find a sibling we just learned about. supported where I could. We did DNA testing (ok she did) but did not find him. But did find a 2nd cousin on Dad's side that may lead us to learning more about his birth dad.

9. Ashley Boxes - these bring me joy. So I have 3 recipients picked out for Advent boxes for the coming year and have started a birthday box for another. Achieved. I was told me two of the three recipients that it was like I had crawled into their minds to learn what it is they needed.

2018 to-do list

1. Health - nothing specific but slowly work to get healthier. I have started with a Hello Fresh subscription in an attempt to get me to eat like a grown up at least once a day for 6 days a week. Slowly I will add in moving more. I'd like to try to be a size smaller by Pennsic - not out of vanity but just because it would help me move and breathe better.

2. Employment - goal is now 6 years. I like it here. In fact I was just remarking that this is the first job in a long time that I do not wake up in the morning with dread over having to go in. That's not to say that there aren't times that I would rather not go in and stay home, but that's not the same as dreading the idea.

3. Arts and Crafts -
A. I am going to continue with the gift exchanges. Maybe not as many but it find the challenge somewhat enjoyable.
B. get a bunch of the boxes and fabric in my garage converted into scroll cases.
C. tackle the overflowing stash of yarn and make into something.
D. I have also found that I enjoy making strip quilts (having made 2.5 this year) so I make keep that up from time to time.
E. No more buying linen until I have done something with all the linen I already have.

4. Scribal - I want to continue to try to find the joy again. I also need to work on the research project that I've started. I have a lot of resource information. Just need one or two more things then I can compile it into a paper. The idea is to get it done for Ice Dragon, but I'm not sure that will happen.

5. Reading Challenge - I enjoy this challenge immensely and have already started several books for this year.

6. House:
A. Front Hall
B. Oven
C. Basement
D. general organization/decluttering

7. Ashley Boxes
- these bring me joy. Especially seeing others take up this project. I have 4 boxes already started. One will be a birthday box in October. The other three will be my traditional advent ones. I am still waffling a little on who the recipients of those three will be. I feel that Ashley will let me know when the time is right.

8. Social - I found that this year I became more of a hermit, actively avoiding social activities and the like. Even when I knew I needed it, I had a hard time getting myself to go do them. But Kelda and Edmund have moved to Buffalo in the last week, so I sent out the invitations to start doing a "Fourth Friday Family Food" thing with them, Minionus Maximus and Spouse, Not-a-Minion and Spouse, and Not-the-Duchess. We all agreed that the social thing was something we all wanted to work on and having a once a month thing would be a good start.

9. Brain Weasels = I need to start actively noticing when the Brain Weasels are talking. These are the ones that say things like 'if they wanted to hang with you, they'd ask. Stop bothering them' or any number of other self-destructive things. I need to recognize when they are talking and take stock of the validity and then work to mitigate my actions in response to them.
