For some reason, for as much as I love the TV production of this book, I had actually never read it.

I greatly enjoyed it and had to keep myself from saying "that's not in the movie"... of course it wasn't. Even with a 3 hour run-time, you can't fit 9 hours worth of stuff into 3 hours of screen time.

The things that were left out of the movie, did not make the movie less, but they helped to enrich the book. I am glad I have now experienced the book and may add it to the annual rotation (as the movie is my house's traditional Christmas Eve movie).
