2017 category: an audiobook
Artemis by Andy Weir
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a book that I think had I read it before I did The Martian, I would have absolutely, hands-down loved. But I found myself inadvertently comparing it to the other book, even though, outside of taking place Not-On-Earth and by the same author, they are not related.
Jazz has lived on the moon since she was 6 years old. Her father, a welder, did what he could to give her a good life, but face it, when society is down to the haves and the have-nots, and you are not part of the haves, you do what you can. That means Jazz has been basically a criminal since she was a teenager. Just smuggling, nothing major. Until she is offered the deal of a lifetime and she looks at it as an easy score.
Obviously things are not what they seam and she has to fix it.
It was a good story. And Rosario Dawson did an AMAZING job reading it. I loved her performance in it. And like I said, had I done this one first, I probably would have rated it higher.
