My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 really. I was looking forward to this book, with all the hype and the blurb that I had read as a description for this book. However...this turned out to be very much not my kind of book. I was not expecting the psychological thriller part of it. That being said, I also had a strong feeling of the twist fairly early on, even though it took slogging through a good 50% to get to any feeling like the story was progressing.
Alicia was arrested for killing her husband, in a very gory and brutal way. After her arrest, she stopped talking. She was found mentally unfit to stand trial and sent to a facility for mentally unstable, violent offenders.
Theo is a psychotherapist who is fascinated by Alicia's case and manages to get a job at the facility she's at so he can work with her.
The story goes from Theo as narrator to intermittent times of excerpts from Alicia's diary.
I cannot really say much more without giving the twist and the ending away.
I guess if you like psychological thrillers, you'd like this one.
