Ain't No Messiah by Mark TulliusMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
2.5 stars.
I received this book in a Goodreads Giveaway. The premise intrigued me... as a newborn, Joshua died. His devout father begged God to spare his son and if He did, he would dedicate Joshua's life to spreading the word. Joshua lived and his father lived up to his promise, proclaiming Joshua Christ reborn, the next Chosen One.
I liked the first third of the book. The part that focused on Joshua's chidhood, and the abuse, neglect and loneliness that he endured all in the name of "The Church of the Second Son.' But after that, frankly I had a hard time following what was happening as the point in time seemed to jump around and I just could not find anything redeemable about any character.
I hate to say it but when I reached the end I actually said "Oh thank goodness, finally." I cannot say that I will be looking to read the next book in the series.
