Thud! by Terry Pratchett

It's the anniversary of the biggest battle between the Dwarves and the Trolls. As such there is growing tension in the streets of Ankh-Morpork between the two races. It gets worse when a there is rumor of a Dwarven murder in the tunnels below the city, causing Commander Sam Vines to have to investigate. On top of that he needs to deal with the addition of a Black Ribbon Vampire (one who does not drink Human Blood by vow) to his ranks AND the theft of a huge painting from the museum. Not to mention Vime's need to get home every night at 6pm to read "Where's my cow" to his infant son.

His investigation leads him and his team to the distant Koom Valley where the ancient battle took place and learn what really happened.

Normally I really enjoy the Discworld books. But this one was kinda meh for me. It might be because this book deals a great deal with race relations and right now in the "real world" there are protests and riots dealing with exactly that.

But as always I did enjoy the reading of this audiobook.
