I always wanted to be an archeologist
The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
Book 3 in the Amelia Peabody series. This time Amelia, her husband Emerson and their son Ramses return to Egypt for another excavation season. While there she purchases an old piece of Coptic papyrus for her brother-in-law.
But from the start, their trip to Egypt is fraught with problems. The merchant who sells her the papyrus is found dead. Her husband is unable to obtain the permits for their desired excavation location and must settle for a less than ideal spot. A German Baroness on tour of the Nile's private collection is robbed. Weird things happening in the town near the Emerson's dig site. A strange group of American Missionaries trying to convert the locals. Not to mention Ramses' ability to constantly get into no end of predicaments and Amelia's ability to see nefarious plots in all activities.
************
I was not as engrossed in this volume as the first two, but I still enjoyed it and fully intent to keep on with the series when I need a bit of "fun but not fluff".
