Strange things are happening to women. Suddenly girls start manifesting strange electromagnetic powers through their hands. Research discovers a new organ that centers around the collarbone in women that becomes known as the Skein (as it looks like a Skein of yarn) where this power manifests.

There is speculation on what caused this to appear but no one knows for sure.

Slowly women start to come into more power in a different sense - political, business, religion.

This book focuses around a handful of people, mostly women, as events unfold up to what eventually becomes known as the cataclysm. (An event hinted to be a nuclear type event that changes the world and eventually leads to a woman dominated society).

I liked this book, but I really cannot say why. It caused many visceral reactions in me - rage, sadness, sympathy, disgust, and a strong amount of WTF?!?.

This is not a book for everyone. But is one that will make you think.
