Whoa. Amazing language in the book is what kept pulling me back.

I honestly don't know if I can describe the story though. I will say there is HUGE trigger warnings for drugged date rape, stalking, revenge and psychological terror/abuse.

I can only describe this as a book that would have happened if Gloria Steinham wrote a book that combined the movie "The Craft" with inspiration from "Dead Poet Society", "Single White Female" and "Fatal Attraction".

I would really recommend it, with the trigger warnings listed above.

I decided to check this out because you rated it so highly and it sounded like something I might be interested in, but the Goodreads page, well, it's a nightmare. I'm assuming it must have been heavily edited from the ARC version but I wonder what sort of messages you came away with seeing as other people have mentioned homophobic/transphobic values from the narrator?

Honestly, I did not see/feel homophobic/transphobic values at all. If there was anything it was more of some of the characters having anti-hetero feelings.

Maybe I missed it, but it did not come across that way to me.

That being said, I have sometimes seen Goodread reviews be negative and the person not reading it and commenting just on the blurb of a book and putting their own prejudices and emotions into something is not there.

This was a disturbing book in a lot of ways. BIG triggers. But the use of language by the author was really good and I found myself just reflecting on the use of words to convey feelings, thoughts, emotions.

I am so tempted to just check it out for the use of words. I am always looking for inspired word use and format patterning. But yeah, I'll have to think hard about those trigger warnings...
