Despite mandatory overtime at work and a new puppy at home that needs lots of attention I'm attempting the National November Writting challenge.

I was all set to sit and start working on the story "Yours Truly." Then the problem hit... all the research I had done ages ago, the basic outline, the story ideas... it's in a box somewhere in the garage from when I moved, and of course I can't find it and the computer that the electronic versions were on bit the dust ages ago. Just when I finally decide, after having had the outline done for years, that my headspace is in the right place to work on a first person Jack the Ripper story, I find I can't.

Drattit

So I work on "The First Trumpet". My only conern with that one is that people might think I'm ripping off the movie "Constantine" or the like. It's about a man who is recruited by the forces of Light to fight the forces of Dark when, at age 16, he witnesses one of the battles. The same battle that accidentally kills his family.

The opening paragraph:

Since the beginning of time they have existed. And since the beginning of time they have fought. Light and Dark, engaged in a constant battle for control. Over the millennia the battles have raged, neither side gaining or losing ground. The battlefield - where ever they found each other. The prize - humanity. The condition - as a whole, the humans were not to know. And as a whole they don't.

I've only got 235 words so far. Since most of my time after getting home from work has been trying to find the research for the other story. But here's to trying.
