I subscribe to a lot of recipe newsletters. One of my favorite is the Food Network's 25 days of baking at Christmas Time.

This particular one caught my eye as a potential new addition to the Christmas Cookie Baking.

The other weekend I wanted to make waffles for the Sunday after an event. I got up early to make them for my houseguest and discovered... I was out of baking mix. But I remembered my mother never made waffles with baking mix and I even remembered what cookbook she used. So, what are friends for if not to experiment culinarly on them?
